Zones of production in Argentina

1- CENTER
Jujuy Province: Palma sola, El Piquete, Santa Clara, San Juan de Dios, San Lucas and Acheral.
Salta Province includes: Gral. Güemes, Saladillo and El Bordo.
There are 3 zones distinguished according to rainfall patterns:
  • Humid: precipitation 800 to 700 mm.
  • Sub-humid: precipitation 700 to 600 mm.
  • Semi-arid: precipitation less than 600 mm.
2- VALLE DE LOS PERICOS
Jujuy Province includes: Perico, El Carmen, El Pongo, Las Pampitas, Monterrico.
There are 3 zones distinguished according to rainfall patterns:
  • Humid: precipitation 800 to 700 mm.
  • Sub-humid: precipitation 700 to 600 mm.
  • Semi-arid: precipitation less than 600 mm.
3- NORTH
Salta Province, San Martin and Oran Departments include: Urundel, Pichanal, Urizar, Embarcación, Ruta 81, Ballivián, Campichuelo, Coronel Cornejo, Tartagal and Las Maravillas.
There are 3 zones distinguished according to rainfall patterns:
  • Humid: precipitation 900 mm.
  • Sub-humid: precipitation 900 to 700 mm.
  • Semi-arid: precipitation 700 to 600 mm.
4- ANTA
Salta Province, Anta Department includes: Las Lajitas, J. V. González, El Quebrachal, A. Saravia and Tolloche.
There are 2 zones distinguished according to rainfall patterns:
  • Humid: precipitation 700 mm.
  • Sub-humid: precipitation 700 to 600 mm.
5- VALLE DE LERMA
Salta Province, Salta Department includes: San Lorenzo, Cerrillos, El Carril and Campo Quijano.
There are 2 zones distinguished according to rainfall patterns:
  • Humid sub-humid: precipitation 900 to 600 mm.
  • Semi-arid: precipitation 600 to 400 mm.
6- SOUTH
Salta Province includes: Metán, Rosario de la Frontera and El Galpón.
Tucuman Province includes: Trancas.
There are 2 zones distinguished according to rainfall patterns:
  • Humid sub-humid: precipitation 700 mm.
  • Sub-humid: precipitation 700 to 600 mm.
7- TUCUMAN, CATAMARCA Y S. DEL ESTERO
Center and South sector of Tucuman, Western strip of Santiago del Estero and Southeast of Catamarca.
There are 3 zones distinguished according to rainfall patterns:
  • Very humid: precipitation 950 mm.
  • Humid: precipitation 900 to 700 mm.
  • Sub-humid: precipitation 700 to 600 mm.
